N2  - Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is considered an autoimmune bullous disease because circulating anti-basement membrane (BMZ) antibodies were demonstrated in cases of BP.1 Since the HLA-A and B loci are genetically linked with certain immuneresponse genes and immune-response genes may in some way be involved in the production of antibodies, a genetic disequilibrium and HLA frequencies among patients with BP might be anticipated.In the present study, the incidence of HLA antigens in BP among Japanese was examined to see the linkage with the immune-response gene.Subjects and Methods 
    Forty-one (19 male and 22 female) genetically unrelated patients with BP were subjected to HLA typing. The result was compared with that from 130 unrelated healthy blood donors. The blood samples were obtained from patients with BP who visited the Osaka University Hospital or other dermatological institutions in Japan.
