N2  - On a Dermatologic Hospital Service in 1968 to 1969, three distinct epidemics of classical scabies, totaling 54 cases, originated from a noninstitutionalized male mongoloid with Norwegian ("crusted") scabies. There is great likelihood of a resurgence in the incidence of scabietic infestation. An increased suspicion may allow the diagnosis to be made rapidly by a simple potassium hydroxide examination. We have found a simplified, expedient, and effective innovation in treating scabies with 1% gamma benzene hexachloride.
