The patient was a young child under our observation in the ward on three different occasions. Each time she was discharged as well. We have, however, been able to observe the evolution and involution of each attack from start to finish. The salient characteristics of the various attacks have been the same. The eruption, starting at a given point, would spread by the development of new lesions at a distance until it had become universal. In each attack the primary lesion was a purulent, subepidermal vesicopustule of pin-point size, which rapidly undermined the lower layers of the epidermis and finally broke through, leaving a jagged tear like that made by a rough-pointed stick pushed through a sheet of paper; marked redness and edematous swelling were present.
