Jean Arouete, MD, of Paris has designed a handle that would accommodate the standard Orentreich punch. This handle is similar to that used by watchmakers as a screwdriver and allows the operator to push forward along the long axis of the handle while spinning the cutting blade between the thumb and index finger. Dr Arouete published his account of the development of this and other new instruments for hair transplantation in the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery (1976;2:265-267), as well as in his chapter in Unger's text on hair transplantation1 and in the French medical literature.I am sorry to have overlooked his contribution and hope that this letter will partially rectify my error.1.
