With this issue, we are pleased to introduce two new departments in the Archives. The section BRIDGING THE LABORATORY AND CLINIC, edited by Lowell A. Goldsmith, MD, will summarize, review, interpret, and comment on selected scientific and research literature relevant to dermatology. The main goal of this editorial effort is not only to bring the reader closer to the research literature but also to assemble in a cogent and concise format diverse information, which the reader may not otherwise be aware of, on a regular and timely basis.
These contributions should help the reader understand why the investigations described were carried out, what the results mean to dermatology, what the more general implications of the study are, and why the studies were important and/or interesting. We hope that this section will bring the laboratory bench closer to the bedside and the clinician. These articles will appear on alternate months.
