In Reply.—  We appreciate the interest shown in our article.Regarding our colleagues' erudite critique, our measurements were not restricted to convoluted cells nor to lymphocytes alone. Despite reports that convoluted cells are alleged to be the hallmark cells in mycosis fungoides, we deliberately did not use these cells for measurements because (1) we are not fully convinced that these are the only cells involved in the disease, (2) we are not certain that convoluted cells maintain their contour throughout their lifetime, and (3) the role of other mononuclear cells (excluding obvious fibroblasts) in the pathogenesis of the disease may be important. The distinction between lymphocytes and histiocytes was not made as in the article by McNutt et al1 for the following reasons: (1) lymphocytes may not retain the same cytoplasmic contents when stimulated,2-4 therefore making a differentiation between lymphocytes and histiocytes in a disease that is not
