In a previous paper1 a method for the study of organisms under conditions which facilitate aerobiosis was described.

METHOD  White blotting paper stained with alcoholic nigrosine (used because the black of the dye efficiently contrasted the light-colored growths studied) was cut into 4 inch strips of a width which would fit the culture tubes. A central portion of the strip was measured off so that its area would fit the diameter of the tube. Each end of the strip was bent perpendicularly on this central portion. The platform was forced into the test tube, stilts foremost, and the medium was poured to within 1/2 inch (1.27 cm.) of the horizontal portion. The tube was plugged with cotton and sterilized.
