Approaching an atlas-style format from a slightly different perspective is the new text by Klaus F. Helm and James G. Marks, Jr, entitled Atlas of Differential Diagnosis in Dermatology. This new offering to the collection of dermatologic references is a unique and well-done text. The authors have approached the differential diagnosis of dermatoses by establishing a series of algorithms that progressively narrow the reader's focus to the correct diagnosis. The goal of this text is to help clinicians approach dermatoses in a direct and useful manner. It focuses on common diseases, but develops more complex differential diagnoses encompassing unusual dermatoses as well.
